About us
Hi, I'm Zoe, founder and owner of The Ostara Stitchery.
I have a passion for making with my hands, especially with needle and thread. I love developing my own sewing practice and helping others discover the confidence, creativity, and satisfaction that come from learning to sew. I strongly believe in the positive impact that crafting can have on our wellbeing and that everyone can benefit from making something with their hands.
I specialise in teaching all aspects of sewing. While I've spent a lifetime mending and making, I have dedicated the last ten years to developing my sewing practice and expanding my expertise. I am committed to ongoing professional development because learning never stops, and I believe that being a great tutor means continuing to grow alongside my students. I have been teaching full-time since 2024, hold a Level 3 Award in Education and Training, and am currently completing a Certificate in Pattern Cutting.
I offer workshops, courses, one-to-one tuition, and group bookings. My classes focus primarily on dressmaking and fitting, beginner sewing, and hand-sewing techniques such as mending, darning, embroidery, and Sashiko.
I have experience working with people of all ages and backgrounds, including enthusiastic children, anxious adults, and learners with additional needs. My aim is always to meet people where they are, providing the right balance of support and challenge to help them become confident sewists, whatever their starting point.
As a qualified adult educator, I also teach a variety of heritage skills and traditional crafts, helping to keep these valuable practices alive and accessible to modern makers.
To support your learning beyond the classroom, I also run a webshop offering carefully selected tools, materials, and supplies to help you continue developing your skills at home.
